The Preacher's Wife is hosting a scavenger hunt for minister's wives, so me and my Fit Band business partner, Mary Jo, are participating! We look foward to meeting other women who truly understand the madness that goes with the territory...and of course, we hope to win! :) Here are my answers to the scavenger hunt questions:
The Treasures...
1. First Name: Erin
2. State and Country of Residence: The Great State of TEXAS, USA
3. Husband’s Ministry Title: Worship Pastor
4. Length of time in Current Ministry Location: 2 1/2 years
5. Children? If yes, give gender and ages: 2 CRAZY Boys! Anderson is 3 1/2 and EJ is 1 1/2.
They are the love of our lives and even though the house is falling down around us, they have filled our home with much JOY! We are not sure what we did for entertainment before they came along!
6. Number of unique homes in which you’ve lived during your marriage: 3 homes in 6 1/2 years
7. Cook Sunday lunch or eat out? Eat out! I never cook! If we don't go out, we grab something while we are out and take it home!
8. Typically on time for Sunday School or not? Try as I might, we are rarely on time! It is SO hard to get myself and my 2 boys up, dressed, fed, packed, looking nice, loaded up and to church on time ALL BY MYSELF every Sunday since my hubby has already been up at the church for hours before we even wake up! Do any of you other Worship Pastor's wives feel my pain?!!?
9. Favorite TV Show: American Idol, Law & Order: SVU, House Hunters
10. Something you watch/like/do that you would never tell the church people (Except now you just did…lol): I LOVE FRIENDS!! Favorite show of all time...own all of the dvds and have seen all the episodes a million times! I LOVE COUNTRY MUSIC!! I know all the artists and all the songs...King George is my favorite, love Pure Country...favorite song of all time, Amarillo By Mornin'! But actually, I have nothing to hide...all my church peeps know this about me! :)
11. Most annoying church-related pet peeve: People who complain about things for the sake of complaining yet are unwilling to be apart of the solution and FAKE PEOPLE...people who complain about you behind your back (yet are sweet to your face) but do not have the guts to come talk to you so that a solution can be found. How are things supposed to get better or be fixed if you do not even know there is a problem?!!? Do people really think you cannot see through that? I have no time for people who thrive on dissension and especially people who leave anonymous notes or send someone else to do their dirty-work or send emails when they are upset...get some guts people, be real! Honestly though, these things come with any leadership position. I was in coaching for years, dealing with the same problems. But the difference is...in coaching, I could just say, "get over it or get out of my gym!" Not so much in ministry, although I have thought it many millions of times!
12. One thing you need to throw away but can’t bring yourself to do it: Being the ultimate pack rat, I am sure my house is filled with things that I have no need to keep but I think they are important, priceless, sentimental!
13. The one food you can not live without: Mexican food!! Joe T. Garcia's baby!
14. Parsonage or have your own home? We have our own home 1/2 a mile from the church.
15. Freak when the doorbell rings or always ready for a visitor? Freak out!! My house is always a disaster! Please call 1st!
9. Favorite TV Show: American Idol, Law & Order: SVU, House Hunters

WOW! I see so much I can relate with! We have 3 boys and when they were small, I NEVER got to church on time. Now they are much bigger, but I still don't get there on time, even though 2 of them can totally take care of themselves. : ) I love Mexican and really do not like fakes. I love REALNESS!
BTW Your blog really looks cool.
Kelly
#8? I feel your pain!!!!!
I love the name Anderson. That's my maiden name and I wish I would have used it for my son. Totally know where you are coming from on #11.I'm trying to learn to ignore foolishness. People complained and talked about Jesus...why would I think we should be treated any better?
Your boys are so sweet! It's embarassing how many Friends quotes I know!
FRIENDS!!! I love you lady. I think it is the show for our generation. Which may be very sad:)
Every Sunday morning, as I'm getting ready, I always say a prayer for other pastor's wives. I call several by name but then I always say "and for those I don't know.." So just know a fellow PW in Ga. is praying for! (Now by name!)
Yeah, Joe T. Garcia and the stockyards- such fun from our seminary days! We also loved Uncle Julios- miss those fresh tortillas!
I am with you on Sunday mornings- doing it all my myself too! I have learned just to give my self too much time so I don't have to rush- sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
I have to say Amen to #15 for my home! Nice to meet you!
Girl I am an Idol Fan and a county music fan too! So great to meet you.
We are House Hunter JUNKIES. Especially love the International version. Always makes me grateful we live in the good 'ole USA when they show the episodes from Czechloslovakia and places like that..:)))
Erin: (Love that name - that is my daughter-in-love's name, she is married to boy #2, my baby boy, who is 25 years old...)
We have a lot in common except that I am OLD! :)
My husband has been a worship pastor for his entire ministry - 32 years...and is now also the "Executive Pastor" and has a full-time music associate which is very nice because we are old enough to be his parents and he is PRECIOUS - a newlywed and all that.
I also have two boys and it is so much fun! They are grown and I am now a "Gran Jan" to a grandboy!
Yes - I feel your pain. I FOREVER had to get up and get 2 little boys ready because my husband was at church way before me EVERY Sunday of our lives until our nest became empty last year. Now I ride with him...it has sure cramped my style!
Much love to you!
Georgia Jan
I, too, am a loner on getting the kids ready on Sunday mornings. Hubby is at church by 4AM. I started rewarding (bribing) the kids. If they are ready on time, we go to the donut shop.
