EJ's 1st Haircut

EJ FINALLY had his 1st haircut on Friday! I have been trying to get this done for over a month now but as you know our life has been a little crazy lately, with all of the partying and traveling!

He did so good, just sat there and smiled and watched a little Elmo video! Such a pretty boy, looks just like his daddy (I mean Granddaddy)! :) Again, what a different response than Anderson had to his 1st haircut (during which he screamed the entire time)!

Recent Travels

A few weeks ago, I drove to FW to attend the CONCERT OF A LIFETIME, along with my wonderful family and a few friends! All that needs to be said about that is...George Strait, Reba McIntyre, Blake Shelton, and Leann Womack...16th row, front and center, new Cowboys stadium! It was AWESOME! Click here for pictures and details! One of my favorite parts of the night, which has nothing to do with the concert, was sitting around tailgating afterwards until about 2:00 in the morning...reminiscing with Bri and Gretch and our families about the good ole' volleyball days! Next time...BB's with the gang (yeah you know what that means)! :)

Wrigley Field

As soon as I returned home, Aaron and I flew to Chicago! We left the boys with Grandma and Aunt Leslie while we toured the Windy City! We went there because Aaron attended the Willow Creek Arts Conference at Willow Creek Community Church! He will have to tell you all about that, I just sat in the lobby typing my little fingers away writing and catching up on all of the stuff I was behind on because I have 2 little ones constantly pulling me in every direction at home! But apparantly it was awesome...I mean Darlene Zschech led the worship for crying out loud so what would you expect?!!?

Miller Park Kid Zone

The fun part was that we went out there a few days early in order to get in a little vacation, mostly because we wanted to hit all 3 ballparks while we were there....Cubs, White Sox, and Brewers! And we did just that! As many of you know, Aaron and I have a goal of going to a game at every ballpark! So far we have been to 9 parks, after next week it will be 10! That is pretty good for 6 years of marriage, especially since we took a few summers off to have the 2 most beautiful children ever (not biased at all)! The Cell was unimpressive, Miller Park was AWESOME (very kid friendly), Wrigley field felt like we went back in time (nothing but baseball, no kid zone, no jumbo-tron or play backs, an ivy wall without padding) which was cool but the best part were the delicious hot dogs and Kenny Chesney sang the infamous 7th inning stretch!

The Cell

Other things we did while in Chicago...toured downtown, the theatre district, millenium park, miracle mile...went to Navy Pier and rode the ferris wheel...rode the subway...ate at Harry Caray's, Gino's and had too much chocolate and ice cream at the Ghiradelli shop! We also got to see wonderful friends while there! We stayed with the Williford's (former AMBC SS teachers) for 2 nights and I got to see my 2 former high-school and college setters, Annie and Kristy! It was SO much fun! We thought that we would never have to go back since we hit all 3 stadiums but we loved it so much that we cannot wait to return with the boys!

As soon as we returned home to Texas, we went to the Todd Agnew concert at AMBC.
It was AWESOME!

We will be traveling AGAIN next week so stay tuned for more Franklin family fun! Where do you think we are going this time?!!?

MAY-NIA

As you know, the month of May is absolutely crazy in our household! Pretty much every significant event in the life of our family takes place between late April and early June! We spend more money this time of year than we do at Christmas!

I already posted about Aaron's 30th birthday, Anderson's 3rd birthday and EJ's 1st birthday....but here are a few things I never got a chance to post about:

Mothers & Others (May 9th): Ladies Luncheon at AMBC

(The table that I decorated and hosted)

(Meredith and I)

Mother's Day (May 10th): Josh Hamilton at Dell Diamond

(Smiling at the crowd)

My 31st Birthday (May 16th): Rangers Ballpark in Arlington

(Worn out from all the baseball)

BRMCWC (May 17th-22nd): Asheville, North Carolina

(Lifeway's Ridgecrest Conference Center)

***To hear the exciting news from the writer's conference I attended, click here!

Our 6th Anniversary (May 22nd): The Biltmore

(We celebrated early since we were in NC without the boys, our anniversary is actually May 31st)

(My new Vera Bradley suitcase, Happy Anniversary to me!)

***The picture makes it look black but it is actually chocolate brown!

I just returned from the concert of a lifetime...plus Aaron and I are leaving for Chicago in the morning...so stay tuned for more posts very soon!

100 Acre Sports Camp

Click here to see more pictures from EJ's 1st Birthday Party!!!

The theme of EJ's 1st birthday party was "100 Acre Sports Camp," which combined the Winnie the Pooh characters and sports. We had a cookout in our backyard for family and friends, while the kids played baseball, basketball, soccer, football, golf, etc. It was a blast! EJ is such a doll (not that I am biased or anything, but what a sweet, pretty boy....so full of life and smiles!)

He was leary of his little Winnie the Pooh cake at first but then he enjoyed eating and spreading it all over himself, which led him to finish out the party in his birthday suit (diaper included). What a different response than Anderson had to his 1st birthday cake, which he would barely touch! Oh how different our 2 little boys can be...always keeping us on our toes and making life interesting!

He got alot of great gifts, including this padded table cover from Mommy and Daddy, that the boys can play trains, trucks, cars, tractors, etc. on:

Hope you enjoyed your 1st birthday party sweet EJ! It's hard to believe you are 1. Soon you will be walking and talking!
